When Manchester United met FC Porto in the Champions League quarter finals 2009, in the first leg at Old Trafford the visitors outplayed Man Utd and were unlucky to not win the match.

In the second leg, Ronaldo silenced the Portuguese fans with this characteristic long range hit. The technique that Ronaldo uses to get these goals is flawless, striking his laces right the way through the ball – in this case striking across the keeper from right to left. And when he hits them, they remain truely hit!

This goal in the striker’s opinion is his best goal ever: “When Anderson gave me the ball, I thought straight away to turn and shoot at goal and I scored a fantastic goal,” he said. “It’s the best goal I’ve ever scored. I’ve just seen the replay and I didn’t realise it was 40 yards out and I hit it at 65mph – wow!”
